   oh i want this style! hair with lots of words in it
   in fact i’m going to take this to my hairstylist… tomorrow

   actually, my hair’s quite like this at the moment – only it’s speaking a different language
   (the language of uncool)

   which reminds me of the time i parked outside an ‘Image Consultancy’ in a town in rural Mid-Wales – it was called Lucky Ewe
   (you maybe need to know Wales, it’s plentiful sheep and the accent to fully appreciate that one)

   in ’68 i hitchiked to san franciso, slept under freeway ramps

   i already had long hair, which got me kicked out of school

   stephen stills, of the legendary band buffalo springfield,
   has commented that having long hair in those days
   was one way for a white boy to experience the terrible
   alienation that people of colour suffered as a result
   of racism in the west … he was right

   back in those days i was often chased by carloads of greaseballs,
   i was spit at by people on the street and shot at by farmers

   all in all, very enightening and formative
